The Thames Valley Primary School Tennis Championships for 2007 are to be held at Paeroa Tennis Courts on Tuesday 30th October, starts 9.30am; cost is $5 per person; 2 boys & 2 girls Yr 7/8, senior / Yr 6 primary from each school maximum; singles only [2 games guaranteed]; bring own lunch, drinks, sun protection; a kiosk will be open; entries close Saturday 27th October. For Forms to fill out, please come to the school office.

CANTEEN-BANDANNA WEEK
CanTeen is the NZ Charity supporting young people living with cancer. It is Bandanna Week this week from Monday 15th to Sunday 21st October. We have Bandannas available to purchase at the office for $4.00.

Waihi Beach Junior Surf Club – Every Sunday from Labour weekend until mid-March Waihi Beach Junior Surf club have a club day. Caters for ages 5 through to 13 years. Opening day this Sunday at 3.00pm at the club house and registration forms available on the day.
The first day is a fun day with games etc and sausage sizzle. Everyone welcome. Athletics – Opening night postponed until Monday 29th October at Rata St Pavilion 5.15pm. All ages welcome. Please contact Jo for more information. Halloween Party—spooky fun!! – Saturday 27th October. Families & children welcome; live music—disco; prizes; cover charge $2 per person [$1 for families & children from your school. Contact Leah.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER ‘CHALK EDUCATED TOYS’
Some families received the ‘Chalk Educated Toys’ catalogue last week. Our school will receive 20% of all sales. If you didn’t receive a catalogue, we have a copy in the office for anyone that would like to take a look or place orders. Please note that all orders must be returned to school by this Friday.

TARGET
This week children are reflecting on what makes Waihi East a cool school. At Thursday’s Assembly they will share their ideas.
HATS
All children are required to wear a school hat from Tuesday 23rd of October [after Labour Weekend] – only school hats please. Children without school hats will play under the shade area during lunch/morning tea.
ASSEMBLY THURSDAY 1.30PM
This week Room 3 are organising assembly. They are sharing the Room 2/3 Snow Planet video as part of their presentation. All welcome.
AGRICULTURAL DAY

Mini Ball stars next week. 3 teams have been placed in the local competition organised by Waihi Central School. A note has gone home to children who indicated that they would like to play. A third coach is required. A draw for the competition will be sent home as it comes to hand. Those children who are not playing Mini Ball need to return their uniforms to school as soon as possible.
