THIS SATURDAY 1ST MARCH 10.00AM TO 3.00PM

The Gala is only 4 days away!! The Gala will be on regardless of the weather. It is time to really step up and get in behind this important event in our school’s calendar. Come along — bring the whole family, come for lunch, invite friends and help to make this year’s Gala a well-supported
and financial success for Waihi East School.

The Support Committee are doing a great job, but we also need you as well to help organise our Gala. Many thanks to those who have already offered – great to have your support. More are needed though!!! All additional parental support would be greatly appreciated. We would like every family to get behind this event. We hope all the helpers have heaps of fun and
enjoy themselves on the day. If you have contacts of people wishing to hold a stall, please contact Nicki Pedlar our Support Group Chairperson – see contact form below. Remember profits from this years Gala will go towards our new Library. We aim to raise $10,000 this year to help replace books.

URGENT!!!
Many thanks to those that have returned the yellow help form. We still require items. Please indicate on the form below if you can help with items for the Gala. Please bring all items to the office on Friday.

CAKE AUCTION— As with previous galas, we will be having a Cake Auction. This has always been popular. Please encourage your children to bake a cake and bring it along to school [named] Friday.

CAKE STALL—We will be having a cake stall at the gala. Please indicate on form below what you can bring. MYSTERY BOTTLES—This can be anything (not alcohol).

  • A reminder to parents to please return our annual consent form. These forms will be used instead of sending home permission slips for each individual trip. Thanks.

  • We would love all children to have stationery supplies this week. You can get stationery now at school and pay later. This is a good option.

By the end of Term One 2008, we aim to have all children in school uniform. We hold a large supply of stock [mainly Tee Shirts] at school. We look forward to seeing all children in these uniforms. Other uniform orders are slowly arriving. Order forms are available at the office. This year it is mandatory for all children to wear school uniform. Please name all items.

What a busy start to the school year. Thank you for returning stationery lists and camp
forms. Great effort. This week’s target is for everyone to have smiles on their faces. We have a lovely positive school. It is great to see every-ones pearly-whites!

• The BOT are working towards the appointment of a new Principal to guide the school. The school community will be kept up to date with this process by our BOT.
Other Staff
Office Secretary: Mrs Heather Spargo
Teachers Aides : Mrs Julie Twidle, Mrs Sharon Samson, Mrs Dianne Graham Caretaker: Mr Ian Leslie

• This year Julie, Sharon & Dianne will be working 15 hours each in the classroom supporting academic development. Their hours of work are 9.30 — 12.30 daily.

• To assist with office management we are now introducing a payments box. All payments are to be named, labelled and posted for Heather to collate at another time. This is a very successful process at the College and we are sure it will support our effective office management systems.

• Teachers appreciate parents calling in during the first week or two to say “hello” and make themselves known especially in cases where the teacher is new to them. I would encourage parents to make contact as teachers feel their knowledge and understanding of a child is incomplete when the parents are not known to them.
