District Cross Country Courses in Google Earth

If you have Google Earth download this District Cross Country Courses link, open with the Google Earth programme and it will fly you to the cross country courses with images showing the tracks..

Another way of doing this is to add a network link to Google Earth, follow the steps below:

Copy the District Cross Country Courses link by right clicking it and choosing ‘copy link address’.
Open Google Earth find the ‘add’ in the button at the top of the Google Earth window, look down it’s menu for ’network link’ click it and paste the copied address in the link area, also give the ‘network link’ a name, now click ‘ok’ (see the photo on the below for an example).

: Click on this photo for a close up view.

Look in your Google Earth sidebar for ‘Places’ here you should see the name you gave the file e.g. ‘Cross Country Courses’ -double click the file name to fly there and click an image to make it bigger.

SOFTBALL

What a great success Softball has been this term. Thankyou to the students for playing, also to the parents who watched or played each week. And thank you to Pania, Leon & Paula for their coaching & enthusiasm. We look forward to Term 1/Week 4 when we start again! Mid January 2010 : Casual Weekend softballs games at East School. Wheelie Day on the last day of term three was a blast, we had lots of activities at school and a group of BMX and Mountain Bike riders went out to the Waihi Beach BMX track by the Coastguard building at Bowentown. Here are some photos we took of the East School cyclists going over a jump.

Waihi District Sevens Tournament

Our East School teams competed to the max in netball, soccer and rugby with two teams entered in each of the sporting areas, nearly all the senior class children were active on this day. The games were played at the Waihi Netball Courts, Morgan Park for soccer and the Waihi Rugby Grounds. Our year 6 netball team won their division, the year 5 netball team was second in their category and the over 40kg rugby team had a terrifically determined game only being beaten in extra time to finish second in the rugby. Northern Cluster Cross Country

The Northern Cluster Cross Country (includes primary schools on the northern side of Tauranga up to Waihi) was held at Whakamarama Primary School on Tuesday 16 June. Waihi District Primary Schools’ sent seven representatives in the boys and girls divisions for each or the year groups 4, 5 and 6.

The schools in this area achieved some great results in this event with Sabrina C (Waihi East) 1st -
Year 5 Girls, Melissa S (Central)2nd – Yr 5 Girls, Lorielle C (Waihi East) 2nd – Yr 6 Girls, Blake A (Central) 3rd – Yr 4 Boys, Taine C-R (Beach) 3rd – Yr 5 Boys.

East School Results at Northern Cluster Cross Country
Kaitlin T 16th – Yr 4 Girls
Joshua T 21st – Yr 4 Boys
Sabrina C 1st – Year 5 Girls
Fletcher M 5th – Year 5 Boys
Kalem T 9th – Year 5 Boys
Lorielle C 2nd – Yr 6 Girls
Angelique L 11th – Yr 6 Girls
Hadleigh M 19th – Yr 6 Boys

Runners who finished in the top seven placings of their division at this event will go on to compete in the Western Bay of Plenty Cross Country on Wednesday 24 June at Waipuna Park, Welcome Bay.

Northen Cluster Cross Country

On Tuesday 16th June the Northern Cluster Cross Country is due to be held at Whakamarama School. Children from year four to six who finished in the top seven runners in their gender group at the Waihi and District Schools’ Cross Country, can compete at the Northern Cluster event as part of the Waihi and District Schools’ Cross Country team.

Mr Gurnick will manage the team and a notice is being sent home today (June 11th) with all the details included that the runners will need, including a permission and transport help slip.
