Schools’ Competition
All six of the schools in the Waihi and District Cross Country were part of a competition that took the results of the top seven runners in the girls and boys divisions, from year one to year six and compared the school’s overall achievement in the cross country.
Points were allocated for placings as follows 1st = 10 points, 2nd = 8 points, 3rd = 6 points, 4th = 4 points, 5th = 3 points, 6th = 2 points, 7th = 1 point. These points were counted after the results were in and the total number of points earnt by a school was converted into an achievement percentage. This percentage was worked out in relation to the size of the school using this formula – school’s total points divided into it’s school roll then multiplied by 100.
Well done to Waihi Beach Primary for coming first in the schools’ competition, but also Waihi East School had a strong showing only 2% behind Beach in second place with Waihi Central School in third.
